he is posing in a praying position. i see value because cause it focus on two color.i see contrast in this picture because of the lighting how it shades one side and leaves the other side with a shadow
ReplyDeleteIn this picture it looks like he's praying or meditating. In this picture I see value,form,and space. The one element that stood out was form and the principals of design were balance,unity,and emphasis. These elements help me tell the story on how his actions are in the photo
ReplyDeleteThe man is praying and thanking god for his blessings. I see little space in the photo. The man filling up the frame and being the center of attention with little space around him creates emphasis on the subject and his feelings. The stong focal point and emphasis of he man who is filling the frame reveals his emotions and his happiness, he isn't sad, but he is praying and looks maybe thankful. The photographer needed to consider the background and the exposure value to have the aperture of f/10 to get the right feel and lighting, he probably shot in RAW and further edited. I think it was a subtle side light because half of the person is lit normally and the other half is dim and dark.
ReplyDeleteIn this picture i see a man bowing his head down in prayer. I see value being used because of the lighting that is given off. Because of that i see contrast being used as the principle of design. The photographer focused on shadows in this picture you could see that the side where the lighting is less visible it is much darker.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like maybe he is praying. The picture uses a Rembrandt light. It uses balance across the picture. The photographer had to consider exposure and the positioning of the light to take this photo.
ReplyDelete1) I think the photo is trying to convey maybe something religious because of his hand gesture; he could be a very religious person trying to express that. The balance and form of the photo is really nice, almost completely symmetrical. Because of the form and slight side light of the photo, it very much creates an emphasis on the person and just the person. Because this was taken in a studio, adjusting the lighting to fit just right is very important. The exposure settings have to be dependent on the lighting stance in order to not have a black bar in the middle of the picture.
ReplyDeleteI think the story behind this is a man preying/ thankful for something. I believe the element of art used is value. The principle of design used is emphasis due to the way the light shines on him. The elements help tel the story by creating a depth by the lighting.

ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I don't know what's going on here, it looks he's praying. There is a bit of contrast, the photographer used a simple background and it looks like they used direct light.
ReplyDeleteThe story for this portrait could be just praying that the subject gets through whatever it is that he's facing, if the subject is religious. The biggest elements of art i see is the color of he subjects skin and how the photographer uses it for his lighting. the color of the subjects skin helps creates a balance from the lighting in the picture. They help tell a story by showing us we might have some dark spots with us but we can get through it. The photographer needed to consider how big the subject is and how certain parts of his body will create bigger shadows if the lighting was positioned a certain way.
ReplyDeleteI think the story of this picture is religion, prayer. The type of elements I see in this pictures are deadpan, value, and form. Form puts an emphasis on the principle of design, "emphasis" because of the position the subject has his hands in. The elements of art and principle design help tell the story by using descriptive words that can help to describe the picture and everything contributed in the picture. He used side light with a reflector on one side of the subject.
ReplyDeleteThe guy is praying but I don't know why he's shirtless. Some elements of art that are in the photo are space, form, and value. Having space in the photo creates emphasis on the subject. Both space and emphasis help focus on the subject's importance in praying. It looks like the photographer placed the lighting above the subject.
ReplyDeleteI think that there is one form of light to the left of the subject. I also think that the light is above the subject. The elements of art in this picture are form and texture because you can see a lot of the features on the subject and he also loks "3-D"

Form, it best tells the story in a simple way. the way his hands are placed together make the photo's story very obvious and simple.
The elements of art help tell a story by using simple ideas to create complex stories.

ReplyDeleteThis is a portrait taken in the studio where a there is a man who is shirtless who seems to be praying.There are elements of art like form that you can see in the photo. You see balance in this photo as well as an emphasis on the subject. These help tell a story by showing all the form and shape of his body which helps shed light on how he is praying and how vulnerable he fells when doing so. The photographer has one light that is above and to the right. They did this so that one side of the body was lit up and the other was dark.

Michael Bennett is the form and there is negative space in the background. This creates emphasis and simplicity in the photo. This makes you focus all of your attention on the subject. This was taken in a studio and it looks like the photographer was using split light, as half of the subject's body seems to be lit, while the other half is in the shadows.
ReplyDeleteThe subject's pose and expression makes it seem as though he is praying. I see a strong focal point, and negative space around Bennet. The negative space around the subject necessitates that the viewer's focus remains on the model. Just as the audience's focus is only on the subject; his focus is only on God. I think the photographer used a single primary light, approximately level with the subject's left shoulder and at an angle in front of him.
ReplyDeleteI think this picture is a man just talking to god and thanking him for what he has. In this photo I see value because of how much light is in the photo. I think that value helps contrast because of how the lighting in the picture is. Elements of Art and Principle of design just really bring the whole photograph together. I believe the photographer worked with shadows to achieve the affect of one side of his body having more light than the other side.

ReplyDeleteThe idea of religion clearly wanted to be integrated into the photo since he has his hands together like he is praying. Simplicity is used with a white back ground and strong focal point with the subject in the foreground close to the camera. I think that split lighting was used in the studio since half of his body is bright and the other has a shadow caste over it.
ReplyDeleteThe subject seems to be at peace with himself, and the lighting shows a contrast within himself that he seems to be at peace with with this position. The Rembrandt lighting position with what looks like a back light on his left.
ReplyDeleteMicheal Bennett looks like he is praying or mediating. He is right in the center of the picture and takes up most of the visual space. The lighting in the this picture creates a visual balance that cuts him right in half. The photographer probably used split lighting to create this simple but elegant affect.

ReplyDeleteThe man had committed a sin and he be praying to the Lord for forgiveness. The studio lighting for this is that there is only one light strobe and the photographer used split light due to one side being hit by the light and the other in the dark. The element of arts composed into this photo is space and form and by these two it creates balance for principles of design. It tells a story through the lighting and the pose the man is in. He would have to use the recommended lighting, shutter speed, aperture, and ISO.

All of them combined help tell the story together. The elements of art and principle design help tell the story by using a certain vocabulary that can help to describe the picture and contribute to the picture. It looks like he used a little bit of split lighting and also soft light.
ReplyDeleteI think that Michael Bennett is praying for them to go to the Super Bowl. The element of art I see is space because he takes up most of the photo. Color could add more of a feeling in the photo. Color could help people see the story more clear. The photographer had to probably consider how to light would flash so the background would not have a shadow.

Elements of art I see are space becasue he is is the center of the photo therefore he is taking up a lot of the space in the frame. There is also emphasis and simplicity in this photo because with white background emphasizes the subject in the photo and there is a plain background therefore this photo is simple. The photographer probably uses one light on the right side because there is a shadow on the left side of his body displaying how the light is shining on the right side of his body.
ReplyDeleteThis man is wearing what looks to be a pretty expensive watch so its possible he is 'counting his blessings'. The lighting source also appears to be focused on one side of his face.
ReplyDeleteThat boy be praying. He is deep in thought, as his eyes are closed. Why he is shirtless, I don't know, but his muscles are huge. There are negative space and emphasis in this photo; the negative space comes from the lack of imagery in the background, which creates the basis for emphasis in the photo, as the photo is mainly focused on him. Although the photo is focused on him, the actual message could be something more; he is praying and there are no distractions in the photo. So the photo could mean prayer should be done in solitude with no distractions. It definitely looks like there is a light above him, as there is a distinct white spot above his head. There is also a light on the right side of the photo because the left side of his body is illuminated while the right side of his body is shadowed.

ReplyDeleteThis photo shows him in a praying position. Some of the elements are balance as well as emphasis. He had a very rough childhood growing up and this photo is basically showing how he made it out. The lighting really emphasizes one half of his body over the opposite side.

Simplicity helps this image to be simple and easy to look at. The elements of art and principles of design help keep the focus on the man in the photo. I think that the photographer needs to consider how harsh the lighting may be, and how to position the man so that the light shows more of his features.

I see texture in this image because of his skin and hair and form because of his hands telling the story. The texture adds variety to the image and the form adds emphasis to his hands. The elements of arts and principles of designs make an image up and create a story. The photographer took this in a studio using studio lights, and focusing the light more on the top half of him and make a shadow on the bottom part.

Texture definitely helps the picture because you see his body image be more define. It helps make the story behind the picture more vibrant. The right kind of lighting so the subject lights up more then the background.

The photographer utilized space around the subject with nothing around him to distract the viewers.The space allows for the viewer to focus only on the subject. This helps the story because there's nothing else to interpret except for the man. He is easy to interpret, so his story will translate easily. He needed to consider the placement of the lights. ReplyDeleteA: The story is from what I can see is that someone is at the end of a spiritual journey that has ended in the sense that he has found peace or the answer he was seeking; the photographer uses split light to create a dramatic photo while incorporating simple compositions such as strong focal point and emphasis. ReplyDeleteIn this picture we see a man praying, this picture may be about a religious journey. In this photo I notice how the subject is right in the middle with all the light being on his left. This is most likely caused by a broad side strobe.

ReplyDeleteI can see that this story is of a guy who really needed to use the bathroom and he saw that there was a fresh new roll of toilet paper ready for him to use. I see that this is a full face portrait and the subject's hands are the strong focal point of the photo. There is a light gradient created by possibly, split light. The focal point helped to add drama and extra positive emotion to the picture.
