  11. The element that I see in this picture is balance. Balance is seen because the mother is a few steps higher than the kid on purpose in order to create that balance.

  12. There could be a festival going on that these people are going to. Here you see the elements of lines because the small child is in the foreground and at the bottom of the stairs and the woman is in the background with the stairs creating lines going up to her. That element helps create balance because, more specifically asymmetrical balance because it is a small person by a big person. These elements and principles help tell the story because it is a young boy and probably his mother who are going to this thing and it is a tradition.

  17. This is a picture of two siblings trick or treating on Halloween. The elements in this photo are color and lines. The staircase creates lines to the children and the colors of black and white create a cool and warm element to the photo. The lines lead to the children who create the principle of balance, specifically asymmetrical balance. The older girl, because she seems taller and is wearing a dress, is leading her younger brother, who is shorter and wearing pants, up the staircase to go get some treats, or maybe tick some people.

  62. The photo is two girls in mask at surface but at a deeper level it can be two people pretending to be something that they are not through costume. Composition wise this photo uses rule of thirds to place the two subjects at two different intersections of the grid. The black and white aspect makes the photo seem dark and depressing or even scary depending on who's looking at it.

  64. This photo was taken during Halloween in the 50s and during that time people were known for dressing with really creepy masks. This photo represents balance and there is heavy contrast between the two people. The house behind them looks run down and old, leading to believe that these people are poor due to the minimal costumes they are wearing as well as the simple bags they're carrying. This photo creates an ominous feeling through the use of a gray scale rather than color.

    ReplyDelete
  65. This picture I think demonstrates an eerie type of mood. Both of these subjects are wearing two masks, that must have been popular back in the 1950's as it was common in their culture to see that. They are different in aspects of age, as one looks like a mid thirties lady, and the other a child, which can allude us to a parent/child picture. Also since it was Halloween the bag demonstrates the child trick or treating. Both subjects are turned in one direction but their heads are tilted back staring straight on to the challenge, almost as if a challenge. The aspects used are lines of the railing directing your eye through the photo, and up. Where as the horizontal lines on the stairs serve as a background almost for the two characters. Finally the absence of color adds a strong contrast within all the elements of the photo, and just add to the creepy tone portrayed

    ReplyDelete
  66. symmetry has a key role in the artistic elements of this photo having the bot and mom similar but slightly different. The masks alone are the scariest costumes on the street, and whats with the hats? the world may never know.

  67. The thing that is going on in this photograph is an unusual encounter with it looks to be a mother and son trick or treating. The story of this photograph is it looks to be a poor neighborhood but it is Halloween and its a night for fun and scares. An element of art in this photograph is line and balance between the mother and the son holding the brown bag. These two elements of art create a leading line, starting from the child and then leading up the stairs to behold a strange mask placed on the mothers face. The contrast in this photo makes it very eerie for this Halloween theme

  68. In this photo it shows that two people are going out and trick or treat. The element of art is Rule of Thirds, Leading Lines, and shapes because the girl is on the right side and the little children is on the left side. 69. this picture basically has a family that's going trick-or-treating. value is helping with contrast making the trick-or-treaters visable in the black background

  70. This photo is a great representation of the joy children feel dressing up and traveling from house to house for sweets. The way I see it, is a parent or relative of the children wished to capture a quick memory, as the kids anxiously waited to proceed to the next house. However, this photo seems to have a deeper meaning to it, though Halloween is a fun and frightful event for children, its origin is much darker. What children don't realize, is that while they are wandering the neighborhood searching to fill the bags, the deceased are supposedly returning to earth for a single night. The fact that Halloween has transformed from a day to commemorate the death of close ones, to a night where children enjoy obtaining candy instead of mourning for those they've lost, seems... dark and depressing, and as the souls watch over their loved ones, they are constantly mocked by children's silly costumes.

  71. This picture was taken in the 1950's during Halloween in the big city of Chicago, the gray photograph illustrates the ominous and eerie attitude of the subject and the photographer's style. The two children's clothes could indicate the desolateness of Chicago; they're socioeconomic status portrayed in the picture is infused with the stark appearance of the house behind them. The horizontal lines of the stairs serve as a guide to the picture, starting from the subject below and climbing up to the next subject. Also the white in they're costume adds contrast to the darkness of the entire picture.

  83. This photo could have been taken with the element of value in mind. The use of value develops into emphasis on the children. The photograph could have been taken at any point in time, but is at least made to appear as if it was shot in the early '40s-'50s. As they are wearing masks, it could have been shot around Halloween. The Christmas trees on their heads could possibly mean that the kids are dressed as a Winter spirit, such as Krampus.

  84. The picture has two kids with masks for Halloween. The element that can be found in the picture is that of value in which the picture is black and white. The principles connected to the element of value are asymmetrical balance and emphasis, in which the two kids are the focus of the picture. The element and principles help to tell a story of the kids that hide themselves behind masks because maybe they are insecure of who they are.

  86. I think that the story was taken awhile ago, and is a picture of a child and a adult, This looks like they are going to go out for Halloween and are posing for a picture. The element used in this is line and space between in the people. The elements help tell the story by setting a dark and mysterious tone, getting the person looking at the picture to really think about what was happening before this was taken.

  90. This photo takes place in San Francisco on the day of Halloween. A young boy and his older sister are disguised to go home and murder their foster parents. Some elements of art are is value and contrast because the background is very dark and the two characters stand out. The different types of values create the distinctive contrast. Due to these principles and elements it creates a more mysterious look to the photo which leads you to believe the story behind it relates to something negative.

It looks like a mother and a son coming out of their home. They might be on there way to a park so they could have a picnic. The photo gives an isolation vibe by showing the color of the photo and how the black, white, and grey fit in to the photo. I love how the photo shows detailts of what may be happening or whats going to happen. The masks makes the photo look like it might take place in China Town. All in all, I really love this photo and how it fits with everything in it.
